Alexandria Earth Day is the city-wide festival
celebrating the importance of the environment

For the fifth straight year, families, students and singles come together with pro-environment businesses, nonprofit organizations and government agencies to support a cleaner, greener Alexandria community for our kids and ourselves.

Earth Day is a year-round
celebration of stewardship

• School-age children work on entries for the Youth in Action Environmental Project Competition and 4-H Expo and Talent Show events.

• Organizations and businesses prepare educational exhibits for Alexandria Earth Day.

• The Alexandria Environmental Almanac -- a compendium of articles about Alexandria by citizens of Alexandria -- is widely distributed year- round, reminding people that environmental stewardship is a full-time activity. And, there's the Almanac-on-the-Web, right here, year-round.

• Individual volunteers give generously of their time and talents throughout the planning year.

• Sponsoring businesses lend their in-kind and financial support, while achieving their marketing and community relations goals.

• City agencies donate staff time and support services. Together, the greater community creates an outstanding Alexandria Earth Day event for everyone.
