Alexandria
Earth Day is the city-wide festival
celebrating the importance of the environment

For the fifth straight year, families,
students and singles come together with pro-environment businesses, nonprofit
organizations and government agencies to support a cleaner, greener Alexandria community
for our kids and ourselves.
Earth Day is a
year-round
celebration of stewardship
School-age children work on entries for
the Youth in Action Environmental Project Competition and 4-H Expo and Talent Show events.
Organizations and businesses prepare
educational exhibits for Alexandria Earth Day.
The Alexandria Environmental Almanac -- a
compendium of articles about Alexandria by citizens of Alexandria -- is widely distributed
year- round, reminding people that environmental stewardship is a full-time activity. And,
there's the Almanac-on-the-Web, right here, year-round.
Individual volunteers give generously of
their time and talents throughout the planning year.
Sponsoring businesses lend their
in-kind and financial support, while achieving their marketing and community relations
goals.
City agencies donate staff time and
support services. Together, the greater community creates an outstanding Alexandria Earth
Day event for everyone.
Join the fun in 1998. Support and
attend Alexandria's 5th annual Earth Day! Help create a cleaner, greener city for today
and tomorrow.
